NBA Off-Season Headlines

Congrats to the Spurs for winning their 5th NBA Championship over the Miami Heat. It capped off another exciting season for the NBA. Now that the season is over there are a few big headlines to watch out for this offseason.

The Big Three:
The biggest story of this off-season is that Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh all have the options to opt out of their contracts and play elsewhere. Dwayne Wade is the only one considered a lock to stay in Miami. After getting beaten soundly by the Spurs in the Finals, the Heat know they need to make some changes before the season gets under way. The only guaranteed contract for the Heat next year is Norris Cole so they need to bring people in. The Big Three could all opt out of their contracts and sign with the Heat for less money so that the Heat can afford to bring more valuable free agents. If Lebron and Co. do not get what they want expect to see them in different uniforms next Summer.

Carmelo Anthony:
According to sources, Carmelo has opted out of his contract and will test free agency. The Chicago Bulls appear to be the best fit for Anthony. Anthony, along with a healthy Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah would be an NBA title contender immediately. The Bulls were ranked last in the NBA in scoring offense and he would be a huge boost to that. The other possible destinations for Carmelo include Houston, Lakers and possibly even the Heat might go after him.

Kevin Love
Another big story is where Kevin Love will be playing next year. He still has another year left on his contract but has let the Timberwolves know that he will become a free agent after next season anyways. Love is an All-Star Power Forward that could turn a team into a championship contender. If the Bulls do not get Carmelo Anthony, then they would love to go after Love. The Warriors are also a strong contender to get his services.

So many storylines to look out for this off-season. What we do know is that it will be exciting and that next season will be just as exciting.

Until Next Time,
